A Realization of What Works
I had my first experience setting up a display and sponsoring an event, at The Women’s Business League International Women’s Day Luncheon. Wow that was a mouthful. I loved chatting with so many women and hearing their stories about being photographed, what worked for them and what didn’t work. What their frustrations were with the process and outcome. I’m always trying to grow.
I found myself quickly needing to explain, as I met these women for the first time, how I do a headshot and what my process is that makes my session different from their past experiences. I heard myself saying “its like you are having a conversation with the viewer, you are leaning in and interested in THEM” This just rolled out of my mouth as I tried to explain my process and I realized, it really is the goal!
My Headshot, Model Portfolio and Personal Branding sessions are really based in putting yourself in the viewers (your target audience) eyes. You speak to them, communicate to them and have a conversation with them, through images. It’s more about how you would serve them and less about you. Enter Seth Godin’s voice in the back of my head. :) If you don’t know who he is definitely go look him up he is brilliant.
So now I just think of my Headshot Sessions as The Great Conversation, in images.
