Is there any?
Well actually there is! Both definitely focus on the face of the person (rather than a landscape with a person in it, an event, journalism or street photography). They both try and portray the personality of that person in the one photo, and that's really where the similarity stops. A headshot really stays on the head and shoulders area, while a portrait moves into creating the likeness and conveying personality, through including more of the body and telling potentially a larger story.

This session is an example of a Headshot session that was expanded into a Portrait session to encompass MORE of a story, and provide some personal images of the customer for her own enjoyment and use. Acting
Headshots
Sometimes one Headshot is truly the most important part of the session and we strictly focus on that head and shoulders picture. In the case of Acting Headshots there has to be connection, perfectly lit eyes and minimal retouching. The person that walks into the audition has to look the same as the person the directors chose to see. We want to convey personality through one photo, they only get one chance to stand out. Modeling Portfolio Portraits
Modeling Portfolios consist of six images to start but often people want more when they see the results of the session! We have fun creating different looks for you to choose from to present to an agency, depicting you in different lighting and styles. Senior Portraits
Senior year of High School and now I'm building the exciting Senior Year of College Portrait sessions! These are more than a Year Book photo. We do get that photo, but many more as well. I use the same precise lighting and posing as my portrait session but we focus on how these images tell your business story and specific uses for each one.
